PADI ProfessionalPADI Divemaster:

The first step on the professional path.

To begin your full - or part time career in diving, attain the PADI Divemaster rating. After successfully completing PADI Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver training, you'll work closely with a PADI Instructor to expand your diving skills and knowledge to a professional level. Then, in the most fulfilling part of the course, you'll learn and practice supervising diving activities and assisting with student training.

As a certified PADI Divemaster, you may supervise and assist with both training and non-training dive activities in a variety of environments. PADI Dive Centres and Resorts employ PADI Divemasters to help with classes as well as lead guided dive tours off boats or the shore. You may also conduct the PADI Discover Local Diving experience and Scuba Review programmes for certified divers. Non-divers may also enjoy a visit to the underwater world under your supervision during the PADI Discover Snorkelling experience and PADI skin Diver course.

The course is divided into three areas.

(1) Watermanship and skill assessment:

Watermanship and stamina, general diving skills.

(2) Knowledge Development:

Diving physics, physiology, skill and environment, supervising students in training, dive management and control, dive planning, emergency assistance plan and underwater mapping.

(3) Practical Application:

This involves hands-on training using various structured training sessions.

The Divemaster Course will build your knowledge to that of Instructor level.

What do I need to start?

You must be a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) and have a recognised CPR certification, such as the PADI Medic First Aid or Emergency First Response, within the last two years.  You will need to have 60 logged dives prior to certification.

How long will it take?

The Divemaster Course can be run over seven days.

Waterworld also runs the Divemaster Course as an internship - call +353 66 713 9292 for further details.

What next?

After successfully completing the PADI Divemaster Course, you may wish to continue your dive education by attending a PADI Instructor Development Course, on your way to becoming a  PADI Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Waterworld can provide all equipment, manuals, certification etc.
