Emergency First Response
PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC):
We run IDC's on demand as
well as running two scheduled IDC programmes - generally in early March and late October each year. .
The IDC is designed to emphasise learning and development to prepare you to function as an instructor.
- You gain knowledge, skills and teaching techniques to use the PADI
system effectively;
- The focus is on 'real world' application;
- Your performance is measured throughout the programme to assist you to
improve your abilities.
- You are given an introduction to the business of diving, including
economic, social, cultural, legal, governmental and environmental concerns
as well as marketing and customer service.
Our Course
Director, Master Instructors, and Staff Instructors will be available to guide, help and facilitate the
Instructor candidates in a stress-free and relaxed atmosphere.
The course is divided into two parts.
PADI Assistant Instructor (AI)
- Introduces teaching techniques for skill and knowledge development.
- Concentrates on programmes AI's may conduct
- Completion of the AI programme qualifies you to continue onto the PADI OWSI

- Introduces the entire PADI system.
- Focuses on further developing abilities as a professional dive
educator.
- Completion of the OWSI programme qualifies you to attend a PADI Instructor
Examination (IE).
What do I need to start?
You must be a PADI Divemaster (or equivalent) and have a recognised CPR certification, such as the
PADI Medic First Aid or Emergency
First Response, within the past two years.
How long will it take?
The instructor Development Course runs over seven days and is usually
immediately succeeded by a local PADI Instructor Examination (IE).
What next?
After successfully completing the PADI Instructor Development Course, you
will want to attend a PADI Instructor Examination (IE). There is a local IE
